Hailir launches safety management reform program, following “safety is life” philosophy

Hailir Pesticides and Chemicals Group held the launch ceremony of the company's safety management reform program on June 16, at its plant in Shandong, a subsidiary located in Binhai District of Weifang.

As China's 20th Safety Month drew closer, Hailir had announced on May 28, the initiation of its Safety Month-related activities.

More than 100 delegates participated in the ceremony that included officials from the pesticide industry safety supervision team of Shandong Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department and Weihai Binhai District Emergency Management Bureau, the general manager and consultant team of Jinledao, Board Chairman Ge Yaolun, President Ge Jiacheng and the rest of management and staff of the Hailir Group.

The “safety is life” philosophy is the top priority in Hailir's business operations and the company always attaches great importance to safety management, as it is an important corporate culture.

During the event, Jinledao Management Consulting, a well-known consultancy based upon DuPont's safety management system was introduced and engaged in a three-year cooperation agreement with Hailir, covering service under a safety management reform program.

At the ceremony, Hailir's process safety manager of the HSE department presented an analysis on the company's safety management status and improvement measures, after elaborating on the background, significance and purpose, internal proceeding and evaluation mechanism about the program, which will be implemented in strict compliance to ensure its success.

The deputy director of the Weifang Binhai Emergency Management Bureau said he was well aware of the safety management reform program and expected Hailir to take advantage of it, to make the company a regional safety management landmark.

Ge Yaolun made three important requests on safety management: 

"1) We need to treat safety management seriously and to do well with safety management. We need to learn perspective-taking skills and pay attention to learning and improvement while implementing a project. 

2) Through cooperation with Jinledao, we should build Hailir’s safety management system and make continuous improvement to its work mechanism. It is envisaged that we will spend two years in building a better and more inclusive safety philosophy, and will spend three years in building a safety management landmark for China’s chemical industrial parks. 

3) We will strive to establish a stronger motivation mechanism and complete corporate safety culture, as well as cultivate high-level safety management staff. Based on a clear strategic plan, with the support of an excellent team at Hailir, we can soon establish excellent safety management models and a corporate safety culture. "

The board chairman reiterated that nothing can defeat Hailir except problems of safety. They should put safety as their priority and make every effort to ensure it. The board chairman urged all members of staff to work together to facilitate the implementation of the program. 

In the presence of all participants, the directors and managers of each factory of Hailir Group committed to lead their respective employees in implementing the program and reaching a higher level. President Ge Jiacheng executed a responsibility commitment letter with each factory director and manager. The main members of the staff in charge of implementing the program also countersigned on a Commitment Billboard, to take the lead in setting a good example for its implementation.

Ge Jiacheng said that today's kick-off is the first day of cooperation between Hailir and Jinledao, which is an important milestone in Hailir's business development. The company should take the opportunity introduced by the program, which is used to guide the business activities of the company, such that we can achieve our strategic goals via true learning, true doing and true implementation. Finally, Hailir's safety management level is being elevated, he added.

Concerning the safety management objective in the future, Ge Jiacheng said, “Our three-year safety management goal must be achieved. We want to be an industry safety management landmark and Hailir Shandong wants to be the landmark in Binhai District and even of Weifang.”
