Mitsui Chemicals--1.htm">Mitsui Chemicals Agro is aiming to boosts its ratio of overseas sales to total sales to 25% within the next two years and 37% within the next five years, from the current 15%, by increasing the sales around the world of it insecticides, such as dinotefuran and etofenprox, and other pesticides, like hymexazol.

The Tokyo-based subsidiary of Mitsui Chemicals--1.htm">Mitsui Chemicals plans to register its dinotefuran as an insecticide in India during this year, in Brazil within two year, and in China, within three years. It also intends to start selling dinotefuran to veterinary hospitals in Europe as a flea and tick repellant for pets, as it does in the US.

European sales will be expanded for etofenprox and himexazol, which have listed in Annex Ⅰ of the EU’s agrochemical directive, confirming their safety. In the US, where etofenprox is sold as an over-the-counter flea and tick repellant for cats, the application will be extended to dogs. Mitsui Chemicals--1.htm">Mitsui Chemicals Agro is also cooperating with the World Health Organization on the spraying of etofenprox onto the interior walls of houses and its blending into the fibers of mosquito nets to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in regions like Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

The company is also looking into acquiring pesticide producers to broaden its global presence and step up its offshore sales, particularly in emerging markets.
