BASF and leading horticulture retailer Ace Ohlsson have partnered to build a new plant pathology lab in McGraths Hill, New South Wales. The state of the art 'Ace Ohlsson plant pathology lab sponsored by BASF' will be used to identify diseases, insects, weeds and environmental issues in horticultural crops, and support growers and agronomists in finding solutions to common crop issues.
Eduard Louw, BASF Crop Protection Regional Sales Manager, said the lab will be an excellent resource to help New South Wales growers and agronomists better identify and understand how to manage pests and diseases. "We’re excited to sponsor the new Ace Ohlsson plant pathology lab. At BASF we pride ourselves on providing our customers with integrated crop solutions, and access to the lab will be a fantastic opportunity to support our customers in identifying common issues in their horticultural crops."
Charlie Horder, General Manager of Ace Ohlsson, added that the lab will have no shortage of uses. “We are very pleased to partner with such a well-respected, science-based company. We plan to use the ‘Ace Ohlsson plant pathology lab sponsored by BASF' to help growers and agronomists identify pests, weeds and fungal diseases, assess damage caused and then provide recommendations on products to combat the problem. We will also be able to undertake soil, water and seed germination tests, identify plant nutrient deficiencies and isolate viral infections and vectors.”
The BASF Ace Ohlsson pathology lab, located at 115 Pitt Town Road, McGraths Hill, NSW, will officially open on later this year. For more information, contact Albie Leggett, Technical Agronomist on 0499 211 302.
