Nufarm and FarmHannong announced the launch and first commercial sales of Terrad’or to the Australian broadacre market.

Containing a new active ingredient, tiafenacil, Terrad’or has been registered by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), and officially launched on 1 March 2021. It is now available and offers broadacre growers an outstanding new option for improved knockdown weed control this season.

Terrad’or belongs to herbicide Group 14 ( previously known in Australia as group G ).

Terrad’or shows exceptional activity on many challenging broadleaf weeds and, importantly, brings real efficacy on grasses, including annual ryegrass. In field trials it has demonstrated performance far ahead of market standards such as carfentrazone and butafenacil, and is expected to win significant market share.

Tiafenacil was invented by FarmHannong, with Terrad’or developed for the Australian market in partnership with Nufarm.

The partnership between FarmHannong, Korea’s leading crop protection company, and Nufarm, Australia’s leading crop protection company, offers Australian growers access to new active ingredients such as tiafenacil, with a local understanding of grower needs.

“The mutual cooperation between FarmHannong and Nufarm makes this product available to add maximum value for growers, advisors and channel partners in Australia, and is one we aim to foster into the future” said Jeff Kwon, Vice President of FarmHannong.

“We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with FarmHannong in the development of tiafenacil and are very proud to be commercialising it with them in Australia and Indonesia. The trials of this product are very encouraging and we’re confident that our customers are going to be impressed with the performance of Terrad’or” said Brett Sutherland, Nufarm’s Asia Pacific Regional General Manager.

Nufarm is one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of seeds and crop protection solutions. For more than 100 years Nufarm has been finding more effective ways to fight disease, weeds and pests to increase the yields of farmer’s crops, by turning world-leading scientific breakthroughs into local solutions.

Meanwhile, FarmHannong has been proceeding with the registration of tiafenacil throughout the world in order to develop it in global non-selective herbicide markets worth up to $8.8bn.

Starting with launch in South Korea in 2018, tiafenacil has actively entered a number of overseas markets by launching in Sri Lanka, Australia, and Indonesia as Terrad’or, and in the United States as Tergeo, while awaiting registration in five other countries.
