RecenDLF announced two new appointments within their business. As of July 1, 2021, Klaus K. Nielsen will assume a new position in DLF as director of corporate external affairs. Taking Neilsen’s place as chief scientific officer (CSO) is Derek Bartlem.

In the past 15 years, Nielsen has been responsible for the DLF Group’s worldwide plant breeding activities. His knowledge has been a strong driver in keeping DLF development at a high level.
Nielson will now be responsible for representing DLF’s strategic interests through dialogue and interaction with authorities and industrial bodies globally. In particular, Nielsen will focus on ensuring that DLF’s products are positioned correctly in relation to the company’s green agenda. He will also hone in on the regulatory framework in the value chain from plant breeding, field production and quality.
On July 1, Bartlem will join DLF as CSO.
Bartlem has international experience with scientific research, as well as participation in leading research organizations and programs. Currently, he is head of research, USA, for the KWS Group and managing director of KWS’ U.S.-based research facility, where he is responsible for driving global innovation in plant traits and plant breeding technologies. He has also previously been tenured as an associate professor in the faculty of agriculture at Hokkaido University in Japan. Bartlem has an academic background with a PhD in applied bioscience.
At DLF, Bartlem will lead the group’s plant breeding organization and be at the head of developing their green and sustainable solutions for global customers. He will also become a member of DLF’s global executive management board.
