Since November 2020, all Tradecorp’s facilities in Spain have been running on 100% renewable energy.
Both the headquarters in Madrid and the factories in Sanchidrian (Avila) and Albacete use electricity generated from environmentally friendly energy sources. Using renewable energy helps to combat climate change and mitigate its impact, as it does not emit CO2 or greenhouse gases.
This initiative complements other energy-saving measures Tradecorp adopted in the past, such as the installation of inverters in the drying tower fans to reduce the electricity consumption of the turbines, and the thermal insulation of the boiler room, which has also brought down energy costs. The lighting in the production plants has also been designed with efficiency and energy savings in mind, making the most of natural light and using LED technology.
Tradecorp also closely monitor water consumption, reuse and recycling processes in the factories. Thus, for example, the improvements implemented in the Albacete factory allow for the reuse of 50% of the water consumed and treat 100% of the water discharged.
Tradecorp, a company committed to sustainability
Since its inception, Tradecorp has embraced concepts such as sustainability and corporate social responsibility as intrinsic parts of its strategy. Tradecorp has developed an ambitious plan that combines energy efficiency, sustainable resource management and the reduction of harmful gas emissions into the atmosphere with the idea of safeguarding the environment and giving back to the planet and society part of the benefits it provides us with. This has materialised in specific initiatives that help to build a better world.
Since 2012, Tradecorp have been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. In doing so, Tradecorp aligned their operations and strategies with ten principles that are derived from UN declarations in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
Tradecorp also have an Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System, certified according to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. The latter guarantees that Tradecorp Spanish factories “prevent and minimise environmental impact, focusing on the reduction of emissions, the efficient use of natural resources and energy, and the minimisation of waste” (ISO 14001). They are also members of GlobalGAP, the worldwide standard for good agricultural practices.
