China's second L-glufosinate formulation granted registration, market release soon

According to the China Pesticide Registration Watch, on 11th March, 2021, the registration certificate (PD20210344) of Lier Chemical’s soluble concentrate, L-glufosinate 10% (trade name: Jinxianyun®), was issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. 

Jinxianyun is Lier Chemical’s latest product deployment in its L-glufosinate formulation product line, following the registration of its glufosinate technical 90%, which was granted on 25th November, 2020, with the converted glufosinate content of L-glufosinate being approximately 11.2%.

Jinxianyun is a contact toxicity and non-selective and non-residual herbicide with limited conductivity in plants. It inhibits glutamine synthetase (GS) and its functions (protein synthesis and ammonia transport), resulting in the inhibition of intracellular ammonium ion accumulation, amino acid synthesis and photosynthesis, as well as the destruction of chlorophyll.

Jinxianyun is expected to be released to market in 2021. At present, Yonon and Lier Chemical are the only manufacturers granted registration of L-glufosinate technical and formulation.
