China grants registration to fifth spodoptera frugiperda control product

According to the China Pesticide Registration Watch, ICAMA granted registration to the 2 billion PIB/mL SC filed by Jiangxi New Dragon Biotech Co., Ltd., making it China’s fifth product registered for controlling spodoptera frugiperda.
PIB is the first spectrum insect virus discovered and isolated by the Wuhan Institute of Virus of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, having been granted a national invention patent. PIB SC is a biological insecticide, which is toxic when consumed but has no systemicity and fumigation action. It also has a very strong insecticidal activity against noctuidae and is also very effective against pyralididae.
