Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Sinochem Group hold symposium to exchange views on seed industry development

The MARA and SINOCHEM Group held a symposium in Beijing on Jan. 25, 2021 to exchange views on seed industry development and smallholders’ involvement in modern agriculture. Minister Tang Renjian and Ning Gaoning, Chairman of SINOCHEM Group, addressed the symposium.  

Minister Tang stated that enterprises play a crucial role in innovative development of seed industry and modern agriculture. As a large state-owned enterprise, SINOCHEM Group has achieved positive results in recent years in original innovation in breeding, establishment of market-oriented breeding systems, and offering services to agricultural producers.  

The MARA will support SINOCHEM Group in leveraging SINOCHEM’s strengths to advance the introduction and utilization of germplasm, breakthrough-making in key technologies, seed-related infrastructure building and setting up platforms for service in modern agriculture. Minister Tang expressed his hope that SINOCHEM Group would contribute to high-quality development of the seed industry and modern agriculture in China by sharpening its core competitiveness.  

Vice Minister Liu Huanxin and Chief Economist Wei Baigang attended the symposium.
