An agrochemincal manufacturer is hoping to find a buyer for its Norwich plant, it was announced yesterday.
Bayer CropScience, which makes crop protection and industrial chemicals at its site on Sweet Briar Road in the north-west of the city, said it was confident it would find a buyer for the site.
The 114-acre site employs 280 people and produces and formulates crop protection chemicals and specialist industrial chemicals which are sold worldwide.
Site Manager, Tim Green said: “The decision to seek a buyer for the site is part of the on-going global consolidation of manufacturing of agrochemical products for
Bayer CropScience. We are confident that a purchaser of this site would find excellent manufacturing facilities with a second-to-none workforce”.
He said that the company was talking to its employee representatives and it hoped to have sold the asset by March 2012.
Last year the firm invested £11m in the buildings and infrastructure at the site on the outer ring road.
