Russia's 2011 grain crop could reach 87 mmt under favorable conditions, with only around a tenth of winter crops killed by weather so far, deputy agriculture minister Sergei Korolyov said.
"Winter grains have survived on 14 Mln ha, winter kill losses were 1.5 Mln ha. With yields of 3 t/ha, we will have 42 mmt (harvest)," he told.
"We will have to sow 30 Mln ha with spring grains compared to 28 Mln ha last year, and with average yields of 1.5 t/ha, we will have 45 mmt of spring grains. So ... we will 85-87 mmt of grain under favorable conditions."
