Andermatt Biocontrol Suisse AG and Ceradis Crop Protection B.V. announced they have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement to distribute Ceradis’ new, innovative bio-sulfur fungicide CeraSulfur in Switzerland.
Andermatt is the leading biocontrol company in Switzerland, specialised on the development and production of baculoviruses and distribution of biocontrol products. The portfolio for the Swiss market includes over 170 bioprotection solutions. Andermatt’s initial focus will be in wine grapes and pome fruits for powdery mildew and scab control.
CeraSulfur SC is a groundbreaking product, the first sulfur fungicide derived from agricultural sources. The sulfur is made by bacteria that turn hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a byproduct of biogas production, into elemental sulfur. With the origin of the process being farm waste, this organic and circular (“farm to farm”) sulfur has a different chemical structure and a smaller particle size, making it more effective than conventional sulfur. Also, it has a hydrophilic nature as opposed to conventional sulfur, which is hydrophobic, making it far easier to handle and combine with other products. So CeraSulfur offers the grower a no dust, lower sulfur need, less residue, great mixability and easy tank cleaning application. This unique and patented product was awarded the Bronze Medal at the prestigious 2020 Sival Innovation Competition in France.
“The crop protection industry is facing consistent pressure to switch from chemical to biological pesticides. We have already launched our product in France this year with our partner there, DeSangosse, under the tradenames Whisper and Kashmir. We are very happy to add more countries, in line with our global ambitions for CeraSulfur, especially with such a strong partner who shares our goal to give farmers alternatives to chemical pesticides. We look forward to working with Andermatt to ensure rapid registration and a successful launch of CeraSulfur in Switzerland and to potentially add more countries and products to our cooperation.” states Willem-Jan Meulemeesters, CEO of Ceradis.
“CeraSulfur is an innovative product that meets the trend in conventional and organic farming to use active ingredients from sustainable sources and production. And, not less important, CeraSulfur has proved its efficacy in field trials. We are very pleased about the collaboration with Ceradis. For us it stands for another brick to build up our idea of plant protection of the future.” says Martin Günter, CEO of Andermatt Biocontrol Suisse AG.
