Off-Patent Product Registration Watch in China: Pinoxaden

Pinoxaden is a phenylpyrazoline herbicide developed by Syngenta. This herbicide is mainly used in cereal fields and can effectively control a variety of major annual grass weeds. It is highly safe to wheat and barley and can be used for a long time from early to late emergence of the crop.

Over the past 10 years since the launch of pinoxaden, its market has spread to more than 50 countries and regions including Europe, America, Asia Pacific and South Africa. The most important market is the herbicide market for cereal fields in Europe and North America, with annual sales of more than 100 million USD. In 2014, the global sales of pinoxaden reached 425 million USD.

The Chinese compound patent of pinoxaden expired on March 11, 2019.

According to China Pesticide Registration Watch (CPRW), as of November 05, 2020, a total of 17 companies in China have registered 23 pinoxaden products (including technicals and formulations). The following is pinoxaden registration analysis.
