About Topramezone

Topramezone is a pyrazolone herbicide developed by BASF. It is mainly used for the control of grass weeds and broad-leaved weeds in corn fields, and is safe for subsequent crops. The advantage of this product is that it has a good control effect on weeds that are resistant to glyphosate, triazines, and herbicide categories of ALS inhibitors and ACCase inhibitors.

In 2017, the market size of topramezone was 124 million USD. However, the high price of this pesticide technical and the shortage of supply restricted its market development. The Chinese patent of topramezone expired on January 7, 2018. At present, there is not a single enterprise in China that has achieved large-scale production of topramezone.

According to China Pesticide Registration Watch (CPRW), as of November 05, 2020, a total of 10 companies in China have registered 13 topramezone products (including technicals and formulations). The following is topramezone registration analysis.
