About spirotetramat

Spirotetramat is an insecticide developed and marketed by Bayer. Spirotetramat is lipid biosynthesis inhibitor with good systemic and vertical penetration. It can conduct to the top and base through the xylem and phloem of plants. The active ingredient acts on insect eggs and larvae, and affects the oviposition rate of adults and the survival rate of offspring larvae; when applied to the surface of plants, it can not only effectively control foliar pests, but also protect new stems, leaves, and places that liquids are not easy to apply. It also has a good control effect on hidden pests and shelled pests. So far, spirotetramat has registered in more than 50 countries. In 2016, the global sales of Spirotetramat were 180 million USD.

The compound patent of spirotetramat in China has expired on July 22, 2017, but this patent is only for the mixture of its cis and trans isomers. The patent of cis isomers that really exert insecticidal activity will expire in 2023.

According to China Pesticide Registration Watch (CPRW), as of October 26, 2020, a total of 62 companies in China have registered 85 spirotetramat products (including technicals and formulations). The following is spirotetramat registration analysis.
