In a major announcement, the Ministry of Defence on Sunday imposed import embargo on 101 defence items including weapons systems, assault rifles, corvettes, sonar systems, transport aircraft, LCHs, radars. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "The list is prepared by MoD after several rounds of consultations with all stakeholders, including the Armed Forces, public & private industry."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the financing facility worth Rs. 1 trillion under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund via video conferencing today. He also release the sixth installment of funds worth Rs. 17,000 crore to 8.5 crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.
Safety concerns over storage of ammonium nitrate arising in the backdrop of the explosion of the chemical in Beirut were addressed as the substance has been e-auctioned and is being shipped to Hyderabad, sources according to a PTI report said on Sunday.
