Two fungicides have won specific off-label approval (SOLA) from the Chemicals Regulation Directorate.
The first is for Scala (M15222) to control Botrytis cinerea on protected herbs and lettuce. It replaces Scala (M11695), the approval of which expires next November.
Scala contains pyrimethanil, an anilinopyrimidine fungicide, and should be used only as a protectant spray and in a programme that alternates or uses combinations of products with different modes of action.
The second SOLA is for Switch (M15129) on protected tomatoes for the control of Botrytis. Switch should be applied with a minimum interval of 10 to 14 days between applications and growers should test a small area before use.
