After acquiring the assets of Australian Nufarm in Latin America, the Japanese Sumitomo announced that it will invest R$50 million (US$9.3 million) in the Maracanaú unit.
In other words, a new logistical distribution center with an area of 10,000 m² will be built, in addition to a factory with the capacity to produce 60,000 liters per day of water-based herbicides. Both will be based in the Japanese complex in the municipality of Ceará.
The company's plan is very bold. That is because these will be flagship developments in the regional market. The projection is that in five years the units will increase the group's revenues in Brazil by 50%.
According to the company, the CD will increase performance and distribution at the Sumitomo complex in Maracanaú. The herbicide plant, with 2,000m², will enable the manufacture of products considered strategic for the company, including Diuron, ZethaMaxx® and Zethapyr®.
The company will also optimize the distribution network in the country, by opening two new CDs located in Ariquemes (Rondônia) and Querência (Mato Grosso).
