The annual 50,000-ton glyphosate technical upgrade, as invested by Inner Mongolia Xingfa Technology, is progressing speedily. The project is located in the Fine Chemical Portion of Wuda Economic Development Zone, Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia of China, taking a total investment of Yuan125.81 million.
It is learned that the project involves upgrading of the old plant where outdated equipment has been unbale to run production up to capacity. However, the upgrade will not increase capacity of production. The capacity of production after the upgrade will include annually 44,422 tons of glyphosate with purity of 95%, 31,043 tons of the by-product dimethoxymethane with purity of 82%, 24,005 tons of chloromethane with purity of 99% and 1,838 tons of sulfuric acid with purity of 90%.
The upgrade, which will not increase the glyphosate production capacity, is meant to solve the problems of mismatched production line and storages, as well as to reduce pollutant discharge. The latest progress up to date is that since the start of construction in December 2019, so far part of construction works has been completed. The whole construction works are expected to be completed by the end of December 2020, with a total construction period of 12 months.
