According to the statistic from CCPIA, China has granted too many duplicated registration on herbicide products. For the bensulfuron-methyl, there are 147 approvals for the technical ingredient and 303 approvals for the formulation products, which amount to 39.3% and 28.1 % of the total manufacturers respectively.
The paraquat, with its domestic annual capacity of 50,000 tons, ranked only second to the glyphosate. Nevertheless, there is a relative low usage of paraquat as less paraquat-tolerated GMO crops been developed. Other herbicides such as tribenuion-methyl, quizalofop-ethyl and 2,4-D have also suffered from overlapping productions, as a result, the producers are struggle in the volatile prices. While some new products introduced in recent 10 years have experienced significant growth of sales. According to the experts, the non-selective products such as glyphosate, paraquat and tribenuion-methyl will be in large demand by the fruits grower for no-tilling applications. The prices for some old large tonnage products like acetochlor and butachlor--1.htm">butachlor are to be declined in varying degrees.
With much environment-friendly products continuously been introduced in recent years and the investment in R&D on products, much progress of Chinese pesticides industry is foreseeable.
