After receiving approval from Brazilian regulatory authorities to consolidate the acquisition of Nufarm, the Japanese company, Sumitomo Chemical, started the brand transition process. As informed by José Paulo Fabretti (Vice President of the Agrosolutions Division), the company, as a result of the integration, will maintain the Sumitomo Chemical Latin America corporate identity.
Announced in October 2019, the acquisition involves assets from Nufarm, a company of Australian origin, in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.
According to Sumitomo Chemical, the strategic decision to maintain the Japanese company's corporate identity will not create changes to the volume of Nufarm’s products currently stocked in distribution channels and with customers. According to the company, batches of agrochemicals under the Nufarm brand will continue to be marketed and sold normally, according to current legislation.
With the completion of the acquisition, Sumitomo Chemical is expanding market access and will continue to invest in research and development, with an emphasis on launching new chemicals, the company added. “The company will also have a robust portfolio of high-quality post-patent products,” Fabretti said in conclusion.
