March 10 saw the start of the construction of the third batch of key projects at the chemical industrial park in Wendeng District, Weihai City, Shandong Province, China—the pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediate project of Shandong Genyuan Biotechnology, at an investment of Yuan1.5 billion.

The project covers nearly 30 hectares of land, with a floor area of 52,000 square meters, being mainly engaged in the R & D, production and sale of 1,3-cyclohexanedione, resorcinol and sodium p-hydroxybenzenesulphonate. Phase one saw an investment of Yuan700 million for the establishment of a 20,000 m2 production workshop, power room and R & D center, as well as supportive facilities, mainly for the production of 1,3-cyclohexanedione. Upon completion of the project, the largest 1,3-cyclohexanedione production base in China will be established there.

The chemical industrial park in Wendeng District, where the project is located, was approved as a provincial-level chemical industrial park in January 2019, having emerged as a comprehensive chemical industrial park with superior conditions to establish chemical works in the surrounding areas. In 2019 alone, Yuan700 million was spent on upgrading the park's infrastructure and supporting facilities.

In addition, a work safety and environmental protection-oriented smart platform system was established and put into service at the chemical industrial park, which can accurately regulate and control all aspects of work related to the management of the park's public affairs, enabling the management and administration of the park to work with high precision, high speed and high sensitivity.
