Canadian barley, oat and winter wheat crops now have additional multi-mode of action protection against serious leaf diseases with Cerefit™ fungicide. Newly-registered Cerefit fungicide will protect cereal crops across Canada beginning in 2020.
“Protecting Canadian crops is a cornerstone of the Corteva Agriscience business, and the introduction of Cerefit fungicide for cereals is the next evolution in our commitment to safeguarding these important crops,” said Lorne Thoen, Product Manager at Corteva Agriscience. “We have a wide variety of products dedicated to making sure that farmers maximize their yield potential and that Canadians are served a superior product at their tables.”
Cerefit is a dual mode-of-action fungicide that targets leaf diseases, which will ultimately provide farmers with increased yield potential. Having already been field tested, it will be available for use during the 2020 growing season in two Canadian target markets.
In Western Canada, Cerefit fungicide will be used to protect barley and oat crops, with the intention of the fungicide being applied at the early flag leaf timing to control leaf diseases. Shielding these crops early in their life cycles is critical, because if left unprotected, leaf diseases in barley and oats can reduce yields by up to 20 per cent.
In Eastern Canada, Cerefit fungicide will be used to protect winter wheat, with the intention of Cerefit being applied at the 3-to-6-leaf stage, in conjunction with a herbicide application. Corteva is in a unique position to offer Cerefit along with Pixxaro herbicide to deliver both clean and healthy winter wheat crops to its Eastern Canada customers.
A new addition to the Corteva crop protection portfolio, Cerefit will provide farmers with a strong performing fungicide, while helping them round out the way they manage risk and maximize yield in their cereal crops.
