The companies, Symborg and Construcciones Urdecon, signed an agreement for the construction of the first phase of a biofertilizer production plant in Alhama de Murcia, Spain. The work was planned to begin in the first few months of 2020 on an industrial land admeasuring 40,000 square meters located within the Industrial Park of the town.

The new plant is part of an extensive project presented by Symborg two years ago, and contemplates a total investment of 28 million euros. The new facility, which will be developed in three phases, will house the production lines of biofertilizers, biopesticides and biostimulants developed by Symborg and the services and offices necessary to serve the current and future workers of the company. In addition, the Symborg project contemplates that the new Alhama plant will also accommodate the intense R&D activity carried out by the company, including an advanced biotechnology laboratory.

All the R&D, production and marketing activities currently carried out by the company will be transferred to this new space in Alhama de Murcia once the new plant is completed. Symborg will convert this new plant into the company's headquarters. From its offices, it will coordinate its activity in Spain and those of its international subsidiaries, supporting the more than 30 international markets in which it is present. By the end of 2021, Symborg's workforce, at its different locations, is expected to reach around 130 people.

Jesús Juárez, CEO of Symborg, said, "The signing of this agreement is the expression of a long process, which included complex market projections, sales planning, production line designs, etc. We are very excited with the signing of the construction project agreement and hope that the new plant can soon become a reality."

Enrique Fernández-Delgado, CEO of Urdecon, said, "For Urdecon, it is satisfying to be able to work for a company such as Symborg, for being a leading biotechnology firm worldwide and in the region of Murcia."

Symborg is specialized in agricultural biotechnology research and development. Founded in 2009 by Jesús Juárez and Félix Fernández, both with extensive professional careers in the fields of research and agriculture, Symborg currently has subsidiaries in Spain, Mexico, the United States, Turkey, China, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, and its products are used in more than 40 countries.

Construcciones Urdecon has a long history, since 1979, in the construction sector, both in civil works and construction and industrial works.
