Guilherme Soria Bastos Filho was appointed the new CEO of the Brazilian National Supply Company (Conab).
He takes over the management of the state-owned company from Newton Araújo Silva Júnior, who was in office for one year and was released on request.
The statement was published on Thursday, 20th February, in a resolution of the Board of Directors of Conab. Since February 2019, Bastos held the position of Director of Agricultural Policy and Information at the company.
A graduate of agronomy at the Federal University of Viçosa, Bastos also holds a master's degree in agriculture majoring in economics from the Luiz de Queiroz School of Agriculture (Esalq), University of Sao Paolo, and a master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Maryland, USA. He worked as a management consultant and agricultural market expert for the private sector and as a specialist in economic analysis at Fundação Getúlio Vargas and the Brazilian Institute of Economics and Center for Agricultural Studies (IBRE/CEA).
Bruno Scalon Cordeiro, currently the agency’s Director of Operations and Supply, takes over the position of Director of Agricultural Policy and Information at the company, temporarily opening his position for vacancy.
