From 25 to 27 January, the Schiervelde Hallen in Roeselare, Belgium is all about the Agro Expo. This biennial regional agricultural and horticultural exhibition is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Here BASF Vegetable Seeds presents its product range and the newcomer Nunhems Sureton F1, the newest leek variety, as a supplement to the annual round leek range.
BASF Vegetable Seeds is always fully engaged in improving its vegetable varieties and expanding its product range. Contributing to the success of our customers, that is the principle. Pioneering and future-oriented solutions in various crops are central to this.
During the Agro Expo, BASF introduces the Nunhems leek variety Sureton F1 . This variety has been specially developed for the early winter with a harvest period from November to February. Sureton F1 is uniform and has an average length and growing speed with which the variety meets the current market demand. In addition, the strong leaf is resistant to thrips, resistant to delamination, has hardly any leaf breakage and Sureton F1 has good disease resistance. As a result, the variety sets a new standard in the field of cultivation and cleaning.
The first results for Sureton in Belgium are positive. “From the feedback I get from the growers who have already tested Sureton, I can conclude that this could be the improved Vitaton . Sureton is also a slower grower for the winter months that has the same ease of cleaning as Vitaton but presents even better thanks to the darker color and better uniformity; and has a higher resistance to thrips and rust. ”Said Ellen Verhelle, Senior Sales Specialist Leek.
We look forward to seeing you at Agro Expo!
