As part of a five-year investment plan costing around R$85 million, Albaugh launched a product formulation plant within its Resende (RJ) industrial unit.
Over the next three years, the company will expand its production of herbicide formulations and release quality products to the Brazilian market, said Cesar Rojas (President of Albaugh Brazil), adding that the company's goal is to become the standard for farmers in the post-patent agrochemical sector.
Rojas stressed that by producing herbicides in Resende, Albaugh will become more competitive in domestic and foreign markets, noting that it has already exported copper-based products to some 20 countries.
He also pointed out that the company’s new herbicide unit is among the most advance in Brazil and the region and will enable it to produce more and better products, to meet specific market demands.
“The new unit has consolidated Albaugh's production of water-based suspension concentrate herbicide in Resende,” Rojas affirmed, explaining that the company's industrial park in the city of Rio de Janeiro has not recorded any occupational accidents that cause a pause of production in the past four years, making it one of the company's international model units.
“This new investment will support Albaugh's growth plan over the next five years,” he further added.
According to Rojas, Albaugh is expected to launch at least 20 products in the next few years, adding that along with herbicides, it plans to increase its supply of fungicides.
“Albaugh's Resende plant has the world's largest production capacity of copper-based fungicides,” he noted.
Rojas, who also chairs Albaugh in Argentina, emphasized that the launch of the Reconil® cupric fungicide in Brazil last year raised the company's local sales by 10% in the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year.
“We understand that high-quality post-patent products are among the strategic tools available to farmers seeking the most cost-effective crop solutions. We will remain focused on investing in the high-quality production of the best post-patent technologies available in the world, especially for the most economically-relevant crops, such as soybean, corn, cotton, citrus and sugar cane,” Rojas further said.
World-Class Laboratory: Rojas revealed that Albaugh will soon officially announce another investment in its Resende unit, which is the opening of a new laboratory manned by qualified professionals and equipped with the latest technologies. The plant will be dedicated to the modernization of agrochemical formulations and the production of customized field solutions.
“We will focus on developing formulations to deliver market access and achieve the most cost-effective use of post-patent molecules,” stated Rodrigo Marques (Industrial Director at Albaugh Brazil).
“Tailor-made formulations make a difference when the farmer applies them, making it safer and more cost-effective,” he added.
Founded in the United States and with 40 years of market experience, Albaugh produces and distributes a wide range of post-patent agrochemicals. Its products are registered for use on agricultural crops, such as soybean, corn, cotton and sugar cane. The Albaugh brand is known in Brazil for quality products with the best cost-benefit ratio.
