On 12 November, Sakata Seed Ibérica presented Perseus F1, the latest addition to the early-cycle broccoli family. The event started at 10 a.m. in Alhama de Murcia. Around 200 producers and several media outlets had the chance to learn first-hand about the characteristics of this new variety, which is hitting the market after more than nine years of trials.
The variety is in high demand from producers, since it gives them a significant number of advantages. It is intended for autumn harvesting, from 15 October to 15 December, and stands out due to its capacity to adapt to areas with water shortages and saline soils. It has an early crop cycle that oscillates between 70 and 80 days. Perseus F1 will help growers obtain a more stable production throughout the year, acting as a bridge between summer and winter productions. Thanks to its high yield, Perseus F1 is a variety suited to both the fresh market and industry.
Throughout the day, the attendees took the opportunity to enjoy a product tasting and see the performance of Perseus F1 in actual growing conditions.
