Suli's fluazinam technical granted registration in Brazil

The bactericide fluazinam technical product (980g/kg, FLUAZINAM TÉCNICO BAILLY), produced by Jiangyin Suli Chemical Co. Ltd., was recently granted registration in Brazil via Suli’s registration agent, ProRegistros.

Suli holds the Chinese registrations of fluazinam technical and several single agents and mixture products, while its fluazinam 50% WG, released under the trade name, Fusaide, is being marketed for preventing and controlling potato and tomato blight and gray mold.

Suli has attained two pesticide technical registrations in Brazil, where several other products are also in line for registration. Suli has been supporting partners in the Brazilian market in the process of registering fluazinam formulations.

Fluazinam has a broad bactericidal spectrum and is effective in controlling major and minor fungi, such as blight, gray mold, anthrax, club root, damping off and fruit tree scab. It is especially effective in controlling blight, damping off and gray mold. In Brazil, the product is widely used as an active ingredient in seeds, to prevent and control seed-borne diseases on soybean, corn and rice. 

Fluazinam is currently the only available mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation uncoupler that has no cross-resistance to existing agents. Through its action on ATP synthase, it removes the correlation between oxidation and phosphorylation at the end side of the respiratory chain, taking away the electrochemical potential built up by electron transfer while the bactericidal speed and activity of the product appear to be better than similar compounds. ATP synthase multiple action sites are controlled by polygenes while the risk of causing resistance is very low, and there is little resistance being reported worldwide.

Furthermore, in China, the United States and Taiwan (China), fluazinam is also registered as a miticide for controlling citrus and apple red spiders. The product has good permeability and contact toxicity but without systemicity, and the spiders have little resistance.
