BASF launched Imtrex Flowable, its innovative new fungicide for field crops, on October 1 in Japan. This new solution is highly effective in preventing and treating such diseases in field crops as rust disease and snow mold in wheat, as well as leaf rot and root rot in beet, which impact many farmers in Hokkaido.
Imtrex Flowable is a fungicide belonging to the SDHI family, and contains Xemium (fluxapyroxad), an innovative active ingredient developed by BASF. With almost no other SDHI fungicides on the market to control wheat rust, Imtrex Flowable provides growers in Hokkaido with a valuable new means of controlling outbreaks of resistant crop diseases.
With its excellent translaminar efficacy and systemic action, Xemium is quickly and strongly absorbed and spread to other parts of the plant untouched by the initial application. In addition, any active ingredient that isn’t taken up immediately by the plant binds itself to the leaf’s surface to be absorbed gradually, resulting in excellent residual effect that provides long lasting protection of crops against disease outbreaks.
"With its superior properties, the active ingredient exerts both preventive and curative effects to provide stable disease control in field crops. In addition, this new fungicide product provides growers with an important new option for control of rust disease of wheat," said Shinsuke Noda, Vice Director, Marketing, Agricultural Solutions, BASF Japan.
