Syngenta and Nufarm announced yesterday that Syngenta will extend supply of the worlds best selling fungicide, azoxystrobin, to Nufarm in the Brazilian market for a period of three years. This supply agreement will enable Nufarm to market and sell Syngentas azoxystrobin and cyproconazole based fungicides to Brazilian soybean growers. It will make azoxystrobin-based crop protection solutions more widely available in Brazil.
Syngenta and Nufarm are also exploring similar opportunities in other territories.
"Syngentas manufacturing excellence in azoxystrobin, enhanced by our recent capacity expansion, is enabling us to enter into agreements with third parties as a preferred supplier. We are pleased that Nufarm will contribute to the expansion of azoxystrobin in Brazil," said Laércio Giampani, Syngenta Brazil - Head of Crop Protection and Seeds.
"This product will fit nicely into Nufarms portfolio and strengthen our already strong presence in soybeans," said Valdemar Fischer, Nufarm Latin America South President.
AC The active ingredient azoxystrobin was developed by Syngenta and is currently used on approximately 120 different crops in over 100 countries. Syngenta recently entered into similar agreements with Makhteshim-Agan, Dow AgroSciences and Rallis India for the supply of azoxystrobin.
