KingAgroot’s Jiangsu Huai’an new factory begins operating, six new compounds to be launched over next five years

Other herbicide products launched by the company provides growers with innovative solutions to long-lived resistant weeds, especially multi-resistant amur foxtail (Alopecurus aequalis) and Japanese foxtail (Alopecurus japonicas), which can be controlled through the use of Pucaoke and Huben. The Shuangzuocaotong series can control the most damaging weeds, such as resistant cleavers (Galium aparine), chickweed (Stellaria media), crickweed (malachium aquaticum), shepherd's purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris), flixweed (Descurainia sophia), procumbent speedwell (Veronica morrisonicola) and field gromwell (Lithospermum arvense).
However, the large number of subsequent orders caused low supply issues. To solve this problem, KingAgroot launched its Jiangsu Huai’an factory in August, 2019, which is located in the Huai’an Salt Chemical New Material Industrial Park, Jiangsu Province, covering an area of 11 hectares. Phase 1 of the factory received an investment of Yuan320 million, with construction starting in early 2015.
Besides KingAgroot’s first factory located in Huangdao District, Shandong Province, Huai’an factory produces patented new pesticides, removing the production bottleneck affecting KingAgroot’s new compound supply chain. The smart factory is close to sources of raw materials and intermediate supplies, enabling it to benefit from short transportation distances. The factory has a state-of-the-art automated production line that used equipment imported from Germany, as well as a high production capacity, to product quality products while requiring less staff, also known as a “Dark Factory.”

The launch of KingAgroot’s Huai’an factory, which will soon manufacture Pucaoke and Huben, together with the construction of the KingAgroot Innovation Center, highlights its transformation from being a simple producer to a production and research-oriented asset-intensified company.
KingAgroot to launch new products over next five years
KingAgroot is dedicated to exploring life sciences and eliminating global hunger, and becoming a driver of global herbicide research and development. It also aims to create new compounds and develop gene editing-based breeding, due to its determination to reinvent herbicides.
Over the next five years, KingAgroot will launch six new compounds, increasing its total number of products to ten, becoming the manufacturer with the largest number of herbicide patents in the world. The six new compounds will cover different action mechanisms for application on various crops, such as soybean, wheat, rice and corn, including a post-emergence herbicide, a sterilant herbicide and a sealant herbicide.
KingAgroot currently employs over 200 researchers, which exceeds one third of its total number of staff, and its yearly spending on research and development accounts for over 10% of its sales. The company’s research centre will be located on a site with an area of over 6 hectares, featuring a 10,000-square metre smart greenhouse, which will accommodate more than 1,000 research personnel. Upon completion, the research centre will support KingAgroot’s overall objective to become a driver of global herbicide research and development.
