Acephate Export dropped drastically in H1 2019
The mainstream of acephate export in China is 75% SP. Of the value of all exported products of acephate in 2018, acephate 75% SP accounted for 71.8%. In 2019, the export of acephate 75% SP was down sharply. From January to June 2019, the total export of acephate 75% SP was $16,297,190, a significant drop of 53.0% compared to the same period in 2018. It is related to the shortage of acephate production in China during this period.

Clethodim’s cumulative capacity expansion will exceed 10,000 tons
Global Market
Clethodim is the leading product of Cyclohexanedione herbicides. It is now subjected to generic competition but still is the most promising product in this herbicide group. In 2016, among the top 15 herbicides sold globally, Clethodim was ranked 14th at US$260 million. Now the global demand of Clethodim is around 9,000 tons, with its major market in Argentina (30%), Paraguay (25%), and Brazil (22%). The global need is expected to rise due to the encouragement of soybean plantation in the above countries.
China Production & Export
At present, China’s Clethodim's production capacity is around 10,000 tons. The top 3 manufactures’ capacity accounted 80% of the total. According to ICAMA, in 2018, top 3 countries of China’s Clethodim export is Brazil (46%), Argentina (30%), and Paraguay (15%). Top 3 formulation type exported is 240g/L EC, 37% TK, and 24% EC. China's Clethodim export value increased 70% from January to June 2019.
Future opportunity
Clethodim is active to glyphosate-resistant weeds with high safety and good cost performance, thus has great potential in South America and North America. At present, the manufacture of Clethodim in Shandong and Jiangsu provice are basically in suspension, with some of the production being restored in September. According to incomplete statistics, a number of companies have entered Clethodim expansion plan, and the cumulative capacity expansion will exceed 10,000 tons.
