Using the drone as an agricultural tool is already a reality that improves productivity in the field. But now, Horus Aircraft and BASF, in partnership with Embrapii (Brazilian Association for Industrial Research and Innovation) and Sebrae create a technology that expands and improves its performance. It is software for drones monitoring agriculture that detects places of greater infestation of plagues and diseased vegetation in the cultivation of soybean.
The project was developed by the CERTI Foundation, an Embrapii accredited unit, and is already in the testing phase. The equipment gathers the data captured by special cameras installed in the drone. With the information and images, it is possible to accurately identify the sites infested by pests, invasive plants, diseases or nutritional deficiencies.
In general, the conventional weed control process in soybean cultivation is based on the periodic verification of planting, with some measures being adopted late. The software will streamline this process, allowing a more comprehensive and preventive monitoring through field analysis. In addition, once the crop problem has been identified, the use of herbicides in the healthy areas will no longer be required.
"The technology will make it possible to estimate planting lines and failures and identify weeds, increasing productivity by up to 20%. It will also be possible to integrate the data obtained from drones to agricultural machinery for the application of inputs, generating savings of up to 50% ", says the CEO of Horus, Fabrício Hertz. According to CERTI's Business Superintendent, Laercio Aniceto Silva, the Embrapii model brings a gain in the development of the industry. "The non-reimbursable financing enables a small company like Horus to contract R & D projects with CERTI and still involve BASF, interested in the impacts that this solution will bring to producers in the field," he said.
This and other projects will be presented at the 8th Brazilian Congress of Industry Innovation, on June 10 and 11, at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, in the city of São Paulo. For more information about the event, go
