A ceremony was held in Changde, China, on 14th April when
Haili Chemical Industry and Bayer announced that they would jointly manufacture thiodicarb. This is the largest project, with the most advanced technology, ever undertaken by Haili Chemical Industry, while for Bayer it is a typical project transfer in China.
Hunan Haili Chemical Industry established trade with Bayer in 2006. In 2014, the two companies executed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in production of thiodicarb, which began the strategic cooperation between the two parties. Thereafter, Haili Chemical Industry began construction of an annual 4,000-ton thiodicarb production facility in its subsidiary, Changde Pesticide Chemicals. Supported by the strong research capacity of Haili Chemical Industry, all product specifications have reached or exceeded internationally advanced levels. In the meantime, a wastewater pretreatment process was developed, for the first time in China, which enables the environmentally-friendly production of thiodicarb.
According to board chairman Liu Weidong of Hunan Haili Chemical Industry, thiodicarb is a second generation carbamate insecticide which provides superior effect and low residue, being a key pesticide for control of agricultural insects worldwide. By the end of March this year, Haili Chemical Industry has produced more than 800 tons of thiodicarb at the technical standards of Bayer, with sales of over Yuan100 million. It is expected that an additional annual export value of $55 million will be received due to this new capacity.
