Growers in Western Canada now have more options when choosing early season weed control with PMRA’s recent approval of Crop Group 6C on the GoldWing label. Lentils, chickpeas, faba beans, and a range of other beans are now included on the label, giving growers more flexibility for effective weed control before seeding.
GoldWing (Group 4 and 14) uses multiple modes of action to deliver pre-seed burndown control of tough weeds including cleavers, kochia, lamb’s-quarters, narrow-leaved hawk’s-beard, volunteer canola and other broadleaf weeds, when mixed with glyphosate. GoldWing delivers faster burndown activity on tough-to-control weeds than Group 2 herbicides, with effective action on Group 2-resistant weeds (kochia, cleavers, redroot pigweed), Group 4-resistant kochia, and glyphosate-resistant weeds including herbicide-tolerant volunteer canola.
“Adding lentils, chickpeas and beans to the label offers more flexibility to growers. GoldWing is one product that they can use in cereals and pulses to get weeds out of the way before seeding their crops,” says Boyd Bergstrom, Western Canada Sales Manager with Nufarm Agriculture Inc. “We always recommend growers use GoldWing in a tank-mix with glyphosate as part of a weed resistance management plan.”
GoldWing is also registered for use before seeding cereals, flax, corn and canary seed. And is part of Real Farm Rewards, giving growers the opportunity to save $1/acre on GoldWing when they sign up for the 2019 program.
