Soybean Asian Rust is one of the main diseases attacking soybean crops in Brazil. Its damages can reduce yields up to 90%. The cost to control these fungi is around US$ 2 billion/year, which includes several fungicide applications.
Among the fungicides for its control stand out trifloxystrobin and prothioconazole, in mixture or stand alone, both registered by Bayer.
In the last “IMPORT REPORT by AllierBrasil” from November 2017 till October 2018, it was imported the expressive volumes of these 2 fungicides:

Contrary to what is happening with the product price fluctuation from China, where in some cases the price variation reaches a 100% increase in the same period, the import prices of these 2 fungicides remain stable. It is important to note that this survey refers to import prices, not to the prices practiced in the distribution chain.
In the last 12 months, imports of these fungicides totaled more than US$ 550 million, which can be considered the main products imported by value in Brazil.
To learn about field practices and pest management, AllierBrasil is organizing AgriTour Brazil, with pesticide manufacturer representatives from China, which also includes visits to product dealers, farms of soybean, maize, sugar-cane and citrus, starting in the second week of December, in the cities of Sorriso, Mutum, Bebedouro.
