Research on zinc thiazole for rice pest and disease control progresses significantly

1. Research of zinc thiazole’s nutrition physiology reveals: 1) the use of zinc thiazole for rice seed soaking can effectively increase the rate of emergence, root growth, root number, root activity and can relieve bakanae disease; 2) the use of zinc thiazole during rice seedling stage can increase leaf chlorophyll contents, total root number and enhance root activity; 3) the use of zinc thiazole in the whole growth period for 3 times has certain function of increase of setting rate and the thousand seed weight.
2. Research of zinc thiazole’s control of bacterial diseases in plants reveals: 1) zinc thiazole has good control effect on the 6 existing bacterial diseases occurring in China, having been applied in China to control of the 3 diseases - rice bacterial leaf blight, bacterial stripe and bacterial foot rot; 2) zinc thiazole is both preventive and therapeutic. Its effect of control on rice bacterial leaf blight is proved to be superior to control group; 3) the use of zinc thiazole in rice for 3 times does not readily cause resistance.
So far, due to the outstanding achievement in promoted application to rice, Zhejiang Xinnong has been awarded the Technological Progress First Prize of Zhejiang Province. In 2018, the application area of zinc thiazole of the company in China’s major rice production region has reached accumulatively 21 million Mu.
