On August 3, 2018, the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) announced a number of product registrations to be approved, including ADAMA’s propaquizafop 92% TC and 10% EC. The products also include dichloroquinoline oxadiazon 98% TC and 20% OD of Dingyuan Jiahe Plant Protectant Ltd.
Propaquizafop is a phenoxy carboxylic acid herbicide developed by Dr. R. Maag Ltd (now Syngenta), which was launched in the market for the first time in 1991, and then transferred in 2000 to Makhteshim Agan Industries (now ADAMA).
Propaquizafop is an ACCase inhibitor. It is systemic, being a kind of post-emergence selective herbicide, which can be quickly absorbed by the leaves of grassy weeds after foliar treatment passes through the whole plantlet to inhibit the ACCase inside plants, causing the hindering of fatty acid synthesis, thus killing weeds.
Propaquizafop is applicable to soybeans, cotton, rapeseeds, sugar beets, potatoes, peanuts and vegetables, mainly for the control of annual and perennial grassy weeds, such as Aleppo grass, Agropyron repens and Bermuda grass.
Dichloroquinoline oxadiazon is a novel proprietary herbicidal compound of Beijing Vagea Science & Technology Ltd.
Compared to penoxsulam, metamifop and quinclorac, dichloroquinoline oxadiazon has the advantages of a broad spectrum of weed control and high safety, with promising prospects for application to paddy fields for the control of a large variety of gramineous, broadleaf and sedge weeds.
