Until the end of the day, more than 240 thousand people will have been born on the planet. Feeding this population safely and continuously is not an easy task. In the increasingly complex world in which we live, agriculture is the fundamental ally of this growing society to achieve the supply of food for all, ensuring the health of the plantations and minimizing the effects of climate changes that impact our planet.

On the other hand, there are questions about how these foods are made. That is why it is worth remembering that good practices are practically mandatory for agriculture, because those who follow them, in addition to producing well, will produce in increasing and sustainable quantities. We can use modern concepts, but the practice of cultivating in the fields must follow quality standards, respect procedures and deliver a high-level product. Also, because what the farmer produces must be taken to a point of sales and it is not uncommon that it takes weeks of storage, transportation and distribution to reach the consumer's table.
Like a large network, the agricultural scenario includes many actors such as our industry, traders, processors, distributors, researchers... all around the farmers. The technologies that are applied today in a farm go from the genetic information in a seed to the silo configured in the suitable temperature to maintaining the quality of the production.
It is the farmer who knows more and more about his role in society. Today he is aware that to show that its production is safe, it must be certified internationally and show that throughout this value chain all the players fight to conserve the planet's natural resources.
That sustainable agriculture is not a farm of the future but is a reality today. In Latin America, to show that to the world, we implemented a project called
Bayer ForwardFarming. Since the end of 2017, countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Chile have proprietary farmers with this seal. They are farms of customers that were adapted following the most advanced technical standards in terms of quality and food safety.
Although today the concept continues to be innovation to increase the quantity and quality of food, this innovation must be linked to sustainability, and for them we must not only declaim it, but activate it and show it. That is the concept for Bayer of
Bayer FowardFarming
In addition, Bayer technicians promote a concept we call Stewardship during customer visits. With a focus on safety throughout the life cycle of agricultural products, we accompany the various stages of production focusing on the custody of our portfolio.
Good practices shape the difference between managing a risk and managing a crisis. The farmer, today much more informed than before, prefers to manage the risks and control their crops. Farming is increasingly open to show the world that it is possible to produce sustainably, protecting people, animals, and the environment.
