Due to the cold temperature in spring in Xinjiang province in China, the diseases and the pest occurred later than the last year. Fortunately, only the cotton aphids and the cotton spider mites were found tropically. By the middle of July, more than 516,000 ha of cottons were affected by the pest.
It is surveyed that the damage caused by the cotton bollworm is relatively mild, only 113,000 hectares was affected. While the aphids are moderate, 121,000 hectares was affected. The population on cotton spider mites is rising, 121,000 hectares was affected.
In line with the growth and the layout of the crop, as well as the occurrence of the insects, it is estimated that 834,000 hectares of land will be affected, and the peak will be reached during late July to early August. The situation is now under strict monitoring, integrating control and new crop protection method will be applied in case of aggravation.
