Sultanate of Oman's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Fish Resources, Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser, met with the Executive Director of the British corporation Crop IQ Technology and the international Marketing Manager of F.I.R.S.T. (Future Innovation Right Solutions Technologies), UAE, to discuss the conditions of the cooperation protocol of evaluating the newest Red Palm Weevil trap.
The meeting was attended by concerned directors from the Agricultural Research Center of Oman. The two sides carefully discussed the latest ways to control red palm weevil.
ELECTRAP®, amongst other recognitions, was recently awarded by United Nations UNIDO and by the Sheikh Khalifa’s Prize for Creativity in 2018. According to the researches conducted, amongst others Entities, as published by NCARE in Jordan, University of Bari in Italy and Ministry of Agriculture in KSA, ELECTRAP® provides efficiency in capturing Red Palm Weevils at a rate of from three to height times against conventional traps by using a resonance chamber producing a MASER effect and so producing the appropriate wavelength of electromagnetic infrared radio frequency loaded with “code” of Pheromone and Kairomone.
ELECTRAP®, moreover, is an unique dry system, with no need of any expensive periodical maintenance to add water and baits.
Meanwhile, in synergy with F.I.R.S.T., Crop IQ Technology is releasing a powder microencapsulated-based Pheromone and Kairomone, with a constant release rate of 0.2 – 0.9 mg /day compared to 5-30 mg/day for the conventional dispensers.
The complex biological activity of Crop IQ’s aggregation pheromone of Red Palm Weevil, in addition to the interaction with the Resonance Chamber of ELECTRAP®, and their dispersion in the ecosystem, , is so regulated carefully, which warrants and ensures a controlled release of these biologically active volatile compounds, from both biological and economic points of view.
Tom Mostert, Crop IQ Research and Development Leader, says: “A nano-dispenser, with ordered pore channels, was developed by our team with the collaboration with others reliable scientists for loading the Pheromone and Kairomone blends of Red Palm Weevil, ensuring a delayed dissipation.”
