USDA reports 92% of corn, 77% of soybeans plantedqrcode

The end is in sight for 2018 U.S. corn planting, with generally warmer and drier conditions in many key growing areas helping the pace pick up steam after a slow, wet, cool start to the season. 
 
As of Sunday, 92% of U.S. corn is planted, compared to 90% both a year ago and for the five-year average, and 72% has emerged, compared to 69% typically this time of year. In the first rating of the season, 79% of the crop is in good to excellent condition, compared to 65% a year ago. 
 
77% of soybeans are planted, compared to 65% last year and the usual pace of 62%, and 47% has emerged, compared to 32% on average. 
 
73% of winter wheat has headed, a little slower than normal, and 38% of the crop is rated good to excellent, up 2% on the week. 
 
91% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 89% on average, and 63% has emerged, compared to 68%. 
 
49% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, 3% above a week ago, but 14% below a year ago.
