Sumitomo Chemical Launches RyzUp 40SG® PGR for Banana

Valent Biosciences LLC, a subsidiary company of Sumitomo Chemical Company, Limited (SCC) Plantation Solutions, launched its new RyzUp 40SG® plant growth regulator at the ACORBAT-CORBANA Banana Congress last week. RyzUp 40SG® is already used widely by Latin American banana growers and is expected to be the main tool for postharvest management programs on banana plantations throughout The Philippines.
Banana is a climacteric fruit that has a high rate of deterioration, which contributes to high postharvest losses. These losses often stem from improper postharvest handling and storage practices that can occur at any point along the banana supply chain. RyzUp 40SG®effectively manages one of the most important postharvest factors - "green life" - to dramatically reduce postharvest losses.
Approved for both conventional and organic banana production, the patented formulation of RyzUp 40SG® delivers banana growers with a unique tool to extend green life and thereby provide the following postharvest benefits:
