Gowan Company, L.L.C. recently announced that the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC) has included fenazaquin as a Group 39 fungicide. Fenazaquin is currently sold under the brand Magister® as a wide spectrum miticide in the USA and several other countries.
Juli Jessen, Gowan Group CEO said, “The FRAC inclusion of fenazaquin is an important step for us as our company continues to develop products that control several important pathogens in a variety of different crops. We see fenazaquin as a useful supplement to disease programs, particularly those consisting of multiple applications per season, where new modes of action can help manage the buildup of disease resistance to existing chemistry.”
In addition to mites, Magister is currently labeled for powdery mildew control in the USA, with other diseases pending registration. Growers using Magister as a miticide will soon be able to reap additional benefits by supplementing their disease control program.
