AlgaEnergy joins European Biostimulants Industry Council

AlgaEnergy keeps consolidating itself as a global benchmark in the market of agricultural biostimulants. The years of research behind its products, as well as their uniqueness, have been the basis of the success story of AgriAlgae® in all markets where it is already present, and are the stepping stone for its accelerated internationalization. In this context, AlgaEnergy’s membership of EBIC - approved by the Board in December 2017-, is an important step forward in terms of the company’s positioning and support to the global market. 

The biostimulant market is relatively new, and therefore, it is necessary that the main players of the sector join their efforts in order to achieve the sector standardization, as well as to promote the use of biostimulants from a solid scientific base. It is with this aim that the EBIC was founded in 2011, to foster the role of the biostimulants sector in helping agriculture to produce more with less. To do this, EBIC advocates an operating environment that creates a truly European market for biostimulants and recognises their contribution to sustainable agricultural production, green innovation, economic growth and other European Union (EU) policy objectives. It is a platform that serves as a meeting point for the main players in the biostimulants’ sector, helping to disseminate and increase the awareness about the benefits of these agricultural inputs, which are called to play a leading role in the global agriculture.

 

Regarding AlgaEnergy’s recent adhesion to EBIC, Carlos Rodríguez-Villa, General Manager of the Company, highlighted that "AlgaEnergy has been a pioneer in the biostimulant industry, developing a unique range of microalgae based biostimulants in world premiere -AgriAlgae®-. AlgaEnergy is also the only company in the world that has microalgae cultivation plants and has prioritized the agricultural sector, which shows the transcendence we believe microalgae will have in developing a more efficient and sustainable agriculture". "Being part of this organization was a natural step for us, since the objectives of AlgaEnergy are completely aligned with EBIC’s goals in terms of contributing to consolidate and strengthen a relatively new sector, whose relevance and enormous potential is still generally unknown ", added Rodríguez-Villa.

All 57 members of EBIC have signed a Code of Conduct for the commercialization of biostimulants, which lays the foundation for the industry development following certain ethical and scientific standards, ensuring the compliance with the current regulations as well. This Code of Conduct embodies the commitment of EBIC’s members to place plant biostimulants on the market in a way that promotes transparency, and allows farmers to make informed choices about the additional benefits that biostimulants can bring to their crop management systems.
