Nufarm and Sumitomo have voluntarily recalled fungicides used in pulse crops from the market due to product quality issues.
Nufarm has recalled its Spin Flo (carbendazim) systemic fungicide manufactured prior to August this year, while Sumitomo has recalled all batches of Motac 500 SC (carbendazim) made in the same period.
Both chemicals have similar chemistry and are used for control of chocolate spot and grey mould in chick peas, faba beans, lentils and vetch.
They are also used for control of macadamia husk spot in macadamia trees.
In statements on their res¬pective websites, Nufarm and Sumitomo said the fungicides conformed to specifications at the time of manufacture but they had since found the liquid chemical did not flow freely over time, making it difficult to pour.
“This issue relates to the physical aspects of the product, efficacy in not impacted,” they said.
Growers who still hold stocks of Spin Flo and Motac 500 SC should return it to their point of purchase.
