DuPont Acelepryn granular insecticide now is registered for use in California. The active ingredient used in Acelepryn granular insecticide is classified as reduced-risk by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) for applications to turfgrass.
Acelepryn provides excellent, proven control of all white grub species and key surface-feeding insects, including cutworms, caterpillars and crane flies. Acelepryn granular is available in a 25-pound-size for applications of less than one acre. Acelepryn also is available in a liquid formula that was registered for use in California in 2008. The California Department of Pesticide Registrations (CDPR) initiated its accelerated review of Acelepryn prior to the EPA registration of the product. The CDPR review and approval was aided by the product’s favorable toxicological profile.
“We are pleased that California has recognized another Acelepryn product for its environmental attributes and proven performance,” said Mike McDermott, global business leader for DuPont Professional Products. “The Acelepryn family of turfgrass and ornamental insect pest control products will help our customers to be better stewards of the environment, while providing the broad spectrum and flexible application timing that other grub control products can’t deliver.”
Since 2003, a network of leading entomologists throughout the United States have evaluated Acelepryn for insect pest control on turfgrass and ornamental plants. More than 500 field trials have demonstrated outstanding efficacy of Acelepryn against every major turf-damaging white grub pest species.
With just one application of DuPont Acelepryn insecticide, turf management professionals can control all 10 key turf-damaging white grub species as well as surface-feeding insect pests that damage turf. Acelepryn® also is highly effective against the difficult-to-control turf insect pest the annual bluegrass weevil.
Acelepryn is in a chemical class with a mode of action that is different from current turf insect pest control products. Acelepryn also has the lowest currently known approved application rate for white grub control, an active ingredient with lower water solubility and a favorable environmental and toxicological profile.
