The Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals (ICAMA) gave a public notification recently for the 12th batch of pesticide products to be registered, covering registrations of 453 products and 125 niche crop applications. The 453 products to be registered include 58 technical materials, among which the Chinese Nantong Jiahe Chemical Ltd will be granted China’s first registration for iprovalicarb 95% technical.
Iprovalicarb is an amino-acid ester derivative, which acts on the cell wall and protein biosynthesis. The product inhibits spore infection and germination, as well as the growth of mycelium, which leads to the metamorphosis and death of mycelium, being very effective for the control of diseases caused by peronosporaceae and phytophthora fungi. There is no cross resistance between iprovalicarb and metalaxyl or cymoxanil, offering great market potentials.
The iprovalicarb patent already expired in 2010. In May, Nantong Jiahe Chemical Ltd planned to build an annual 100-ton iprovalicarb technical plant with an investment of Yuan126.86 million.
