Net sales of SDS Biotech K.K. for the second quarter of this fiscal year ended September 30th were 6,442 million yen (an increase of 824 million yen or 14.7% year on year), with operating income of 73 million yen (in the same quarter of the previous year, operating loss was 183 million yen), ordinary income of 71 million yen (in the same quarter of the previous year, ordinary loss was 363 million yen), and consolidated net loss attributable to owners of parent of 111 million yen (in the same quarter of the previous year, consolidated net loss attributable to owners of parent was 127 million yen).
The company’s shipments tend to concentrate on winter and spring for the farming season. For that reason, sales tend to concentrate on the third quarter and fourth quarter. In the third quarter, the tendency is remarkable.
Sales result by product category
Fungicide
Consolidated net sales for the second quarter under review were 2,320 million yen (an increase of 272 million yen or 13.3% year on year). This was mainly due to favorable shipments of Daconil (chlorothalonil) products (technical and formulation) for overseas markets.
Paddy herbicide
Sales of paddy herbicide were 1,669 million yen (an increase of 172 million yen or 11.5% year on year). This was mainly due to advance shipment of some products.
Greenery-related products
Sales of this section were 131 million yen (an increase of 5 million yen or 0.4% year on year). This was mainly due to favorable shipments of Karbutilate products (technical and formulation).
Insecticides
Sales of insecticides were 638 million yen (an increase of 61 million yen or 10.7% year on year). This was mainly due to favorable shipments of D-D products.
Others
Consolidated net sales for the other products were 512 million yen (an increase of 311 million yen year on year). This was mainly due to favorable shipments of Daconil intermediate (IPN).
